Overview
Nepal is a country which has rich geography, culture, religion and out of the ordinary locales where life is filled with zeal. The land is filled with many vibrant bright colors - blossoms which provoke you to look out and explore the beauty of nature - with green trees and with snow-covered mountain tops just like icing on the cake.
The land of Nepal is covered 75% with hills in terms of topography which is why the region is cold during summer period also and is an awesome tourist destination when the sun is blazing hot.
The total area of the land is 143,351 sq. km while that of the water zone is about 3,830 sq. km. Nepal shares its international boundary with China and Indian states of Bihar, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Sikkim, and West Bengal.
It is home to two more distinct horizontal regions. Some of the interesting cities here are Lalitpur, Bharatpur, Pokhara, and Kathmandu as the capital city, which is considered as the metropolitan city has a population of 1 million according to a recent survey. According to the research Pokhara, a city established on Phewa lake is known for being the gateway to the Annapurna circuit and is also recommended as a great tourist destination.
Nepal was ruled by kings called Monarchy. This region was ruled by the Shah dynasty for 200 years.
Later, there were several protests this monarchical rule where citizens were desperate to eradicate such a system. After a long period of struggle, they were successful, and Nepal became the Federal Republic and ended 200 years rule of the Shah dynasty. Nepalese became the official language used by the general public and the government for communication purposes.
Nepal is characterized by the following four M's’ that distinguishes it from other countries. These are: -

4) Multilingual
The land has various ethnic groups, has different races that coexist together and supports several cultures too. Residents of the country speak in several languages and are followers of different religions but have been living harmoniously for ages now.
Activities to do
Visitors to Nepal can immerse themselves in the scenic beauty of the place that ranges from hilly areas to capturing the beauty of natural rivers like Kail, Karnal, Narayani, and Kosi. They should also try their hand at adrenalin pumping adventure activities from bungee jumping in the river ravines to treks on the mountainous terrain. Some of the other activities to indulge here include shopping, catch a panoramic flight over the mighty Himalayas, catch the native flora and fauna at the Chitwan National Park, go for a mountain biking trip in the valley region of Kathmandu, take a helicopter ride over Mount Everest or visit the Bardia National Park to catch glimpses of the elusive tigers, try their hand at the exciting river rafting activity on the Bhote Koshi river or get going on a kayaking activity on the Seti River.
Major fastival
Mahashivratri: It is one of the most popular and main festivals celebrated in Nepal. In this, Hindu devotees of Lord Shiva worship him and seek his blessings. They serve Prasad. Flowers and milk are offered to the Lord. People visit the temple and send gifts to each other on this day.
Falgun Purnima or Holi : It is referred to as the first day of Holi festival in which Holika is burned. People play with gulal in the memory of this folk tale. The decoration is done with a strip of colourful clothes which looks stunning. Other than applying colours, people also serve sweets to each other on this day.
The Chariot festival or the Bunga Dyah Jatra: In this festival, a procession is carried out in Lalitpur dedicated to Buddhist's lords. It is one of the biggest religious festivals of this region.
Dashain: This is a festival that goes on for 2 weeks mostly celebrated by Hindu Nepalese. Goddess Shakti is worshipped in her various forms.
Biske Jatra is also organised in Thimi and Balakhu regions of Bhaktapur. The locals join the rally, sing, dance, play dhimay music and throw colours at each other. A tongue piercing is a very common ceremony during this festival. Famous as Nepali New year, this is yet another main festival of Nepal. At the beginning of Nepali Bisket month, this grand rally is organised in Bhaktapur. This ceremony marks the end of serpents, hence also known as Bisyau Jatra or slaying of serpents. A huge tug of war is organised at Durbar Square, between the eastern and western part of the country, on the day of Bisket Jatra. A huge pole, resembling a holy lingam is raised by the river, which is pulled down by the crowd to commence new year officially.
Cuisine
Basically, Nepal is the melting pot which is influenced by Chinese and Bengali cuisine. It has some special dishes like man’s thatche, dimsum served with brimming hot red garlic chutney which is relished by people from all over the world.

Nepal embodies several tourist attractions like Mount Everest that is also the highest peak of the world and several markets for shopping goods at dearth cheap rates. Some of the monuments mentioned above are also places worth exploring in the land filled with mountains and trees.

Changu Narayan temple - Encompasses unique glamorous two viewed pagoda architectural style. Looks like chariot where lord Vishnu is worshipped. This also comes under UNESCO World Heritage site.
Lumbini - It is the birthplace of Lord Buddha who propagated the knowledge to enlighten the future generations through his preaching and a popular UNESCO World HERITAGE site.
