Overview
Jaldapara National Park is a lovely site situated in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri District, Also known as the Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary. National Park Jaldapara was founded in 2014. The park's total size is 216.51 Km2. The park is located at the foot of the Eastern Himalayas, right on the banks of the River Torsa. The National Park of Jaldapara has a multitude of vegetation and animals. The area is full of vegetation and lovely flowers, particularly after the monsoons. Some of the most notable trees in the park are towering Sal and Shishu trees. There are also a variety of ferns, bushes, and high grass.

Jaldapara's major attraction is the Indian rhinoceros. The park is home to Indian Horned Rhinoceros, Elephants, Indian Bison, Hog Deer, Spotted Deer, Chital, Sambar, Barking Deer, Wild Pigs, Tigers, Leopards, Jungle Cat, Leopard Cat, Fishing Cat, etc.
The area is a birdwatcher's delight, with over 350 bird species listed for viewing. Some of the region's notable avifaunal species include fishing eagle, crested eagle, shikra, jungle fowl, partridge, peafowl, pied hornbill, racket-tailed drongo, paradise flycatcher, etc.
Jaldapara is Dooars' most popular forest. The Hollong bungalow within the jungle is one of India's most sought-after tourist accommodations. Today Jaldapara has expanded beyond the Hollong Bungalow and offers several alternatives for visitors visiting the National Park.
Jaldapara is well renowned for its one-horned Asian Rhinos population, the world's second-biggest after Assam's Kaziranga forest. Rhino's population in Jaldapara is estimated to be about 160 and grows steadily.
Safari rides
An exciting elephant safari is arranged early morning from Hollong Forest Bungalow to showcase the beautiful beauty of Jaldapara's wide grassland. Elephant ride is the greatest method to see the Sanctuary with Indian rhinoceros and Asian elephants' uncommon sight.
The Sanctuary's vehicle safari is another significant draw. Multiple jeep safari is being arranged morning and evening. Over the last year, the number of watchtowers where Jeep safari brings visitors has grown. Tourists must go to Jeep authorized forest with a tourist guide.

The Torsha River runs through this rainforest park, covered mostly with long grasses, and the Sanctuary has luxurious greenery and diverse fauna. The river Malangi similarly runs from east to west. Jaldapara is located 61 m above sea level. The Torsa, Malangi, Hollong, Chirakhawa, Kalijhora, Sissamara, Bhaluka, and Buri rivers drained away. The west bank of the Torsha River is named Jaldapara, while the eastern side is called the woods of Chilapata. Grassland covers more than 30 percent of the entire area.
The total population of Jaldapara and its adjoining villages is about 1,098 people (2011 Census). About 263 families occupy the rural district. Though most people converse in Bengali, they mostly belong to indigenous tribes and most of them are involved in the cultivation of their lands or work as agricultural laborers.
You get limited cuisines here, near the Jaldapara National Park. However, there are small restaurants that serve Indian and Chinese cuisines. You will find plenty of options here if you are looking to taste the local Bengali delicacies like phuchka, aloo-luchi, jhalmuri, or fish curries and rice.
