Bagdogra Airport (Siliguri) is the nearest airport tying Darjeeling and Gangtok to rest of the India. The airport distance measures out to be 90 km and 12 km from Darjeeling and Siliguri respectively. Bagdogra Airports have direct flights from New Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati and Chennai. Moreover, the Bagdogra, West Bengal, is a sole connection between Darjeeling, Kalimpong and state of Sikkim. At present five big airlines suchlike Indian Airlines, Kingfisher, Air Deccan, Jet Airway, Spice Jet and operate out flights here.
By Air:- The nearest airport to Darjeeling is Bagdogra about 94-96 kms away from Darjeeling. There are direct flight connections with Delhi.There are a number of transport facilities available from Siliguri - one can reserve a taxi or choose to go by paying perhead (Rs. 80 - this varies from time to time) from the Bus Junction area.

To visit Darjeeling/Sikkim, one has to come to Siliguri which very well connected by train & air by other cities. From Trivandrum-NJP (Siliguri) there is only 1 train 2515-GHY TVC Exp which runs only on Sunday. There are more trains to NJP via Chennai & Bangalore.
If you are willing to travel by Air, then you can catch Spicejet flight from Chennai which is directly connected to IXB (Siliguri Airport).
Secondly in Darjeeling one can visit to Tiger Hill for Beautiful View of Sunrise with Ghoom Monastery & Batasia Loop . You can also have a full day Sight seeing of Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park and Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Closed on Thursday), Tenzing & Gombu Rock, Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Centre (Closed on Sunday),Ropeway & Lebong Race Course Sight Seeing of Rock Garden and Gangamaiya Park at Darjeeling.

NJP (New Jalpaiguri) is 80 km from the Darjeeling. Regular and frequent bus and taxi service are available from New Jalpaiguri and Siliguri. The total travel time by road is 3-4 hours. Once in NJP you can avail of taxis directly to Darjeeling or take an auto-rickshaw or rickshaw upto Siliguri and thus proceed to Darjeeling by getting a taxi.

Out-station trains (Indian Railways) generally come into either New Jalpaiguri or Siliguri. From there, visitors may proceed to Pelling by "Toy-Train" (journey time 6.5 to 7 hrs) or bus or taxi, Limo Van or Land Rover (journey time 3 to 3.5 hrs) to Pelling.
TOURIST CARS/BUSES:
Tourist Cars, Tourist mini coaches and Taxis are available for transfer of passengers between Pelling and Siliguri/New Jalpaiguri Junction/ Bagdogra, and also for sightseeing at fixed rates and may be reserved through Tourist Bureau, Govt. of West Bengal, Pelling.

You will get Cabs from NJP/IXB for Darjeeling. It will take around 2.5-3 hrs from Siliguri-Darjeeling by Car. If you have enough time then you can board Toy train from Siliguri for Darjeeling & enjoy beautiful sceneries on the way.
Secondly on the way from Darj-Sikkim you can enjoy beautiful sceneries. Can also visit Kalimpong enroute from Gtk-Slg.

The typical attractions of a hill station. Good promenades with a view of the Himlayas. The tiger hills, from where you get a glimpse of the gorgeous sun rise early in the mornings. A number of Bhuddhist monasteries are there. By May end it starts raining conditions become very difficult with heavy downpours making the condition cold and dreary. It rarely gives one a chance to go on a sight seeing and traveling becomes extremely dangerous. It is advisable to avoid the rain.

To travel locally in Darjeeling the best is to depend upon the hired taxis, jeeps, autos and tourists vehicle. Other choices and inexpensive options are shared matadors and mini-buses which can accomodate 10-12 people. The tickets prices can vary in between Rs 100 to Rs 150 and the journey time from airport to Darjeeling is 3 to 3 ½ hr. Number of Jeeps and Taxis depart from crowded south end of the Chowk Bazaar bus/jeep station for Siliguri and Kurseong. Cars and jeeps leave for Mirik about every 1 and 1 ½ hr.
Places to see in Darjeeling are Batasai Loop which is 5kms from Darjeeling, Dhirdham Temple, Padmaja Naidu Himalaya Zoological Park, Natural History Museum, Lloyds Botanical Garden, Tibetan Self-help Centre, Darjeeling-Rangeet Valley Passenger Ropeway, Lebong Race Course.

April to middle June and September to November is the best time to visit Darjeeling. According to my opinion 3-4days are enough to visit the whole darjeeling, if you want you can visit the nearby places as well which should not take more than 5-6days.

Bengal State buses leave for places such as Guwahati, Kolkata, Behrampore and Malda. Darjeeling is well connected by roads. The State Transport runs buses from Calcutta and other nearby places like Kalimpong, Kurseong, Gangtok, Bagdogra and Siliguri. Private buses also ply.

Rock Garden :- This garden was built in 1998 by Mr.Subhash Ghishing . It is natural Rock Garden and water falls. A little below the rock garden is the Gangamaya Lake which is artificial and boating can be done here.

Weather of Darjeeling :- Normally in this time it is raining, Temperature will be 18 to 20 degree in day time and 11 to 13 degree at night.

If you book a taxi from NJP railway station you have to bargaining with Taxi Drivers. The cost is around 500 (One way ). If you go in shearing basis then you have to pay 100 rs approx...
