There r two different places and u cant plan it at the same time or u start ur journey from katra and then u go to shivkhori from there then in another visit u plan for amarnath.

Well u dint mentioned frm whch place u askng abt duration...

lets start frm jammu ( first day)

for eg u reach jammu by train or by air in afternoon ..take overnight journey to vaishnodevi frm katra , coz its gonna be very hot during day time .... it takes 4-5 hours in normal to reach bhawan ....

summarising the whole trip .....u need

1 day to vaishnodevi

1 day to shivkhori

1 day to reach baltal or pahalgam

now ther's a choice in the two routes ...one frm pahalgam which takes 2 days to reach amarnath and then come back via baltal which take 6-7 hours to reach baltal base camp.

or take baltal route for both ways ...which would take 6-7 hours by foot or 4 hours on horse.

baltal route saves time as one can do to and fro in same day .... but from pahalgam route to and fro needs 4 days .....best option wud be baltal for to nd fro ..... or if u wana stretch it a little go via pahalgam route nd come back via baltal route.........

so the duration of the trip may vary depending upon ur choice....

but in general days u need are,

1 for vaishnodevi , 1 for shivkhori nd bck to katra , 1 to reach pahalgam or baltan from katra and then u can count thru the route u take and then one whole day to reach back to jammu.

so depends ......minimum u require is week's time coz u need rest after a sleepless night trip to v.devi.

there is no direct bus from katra to manali now..but a lot of buses ferry from jammu to manali..booking for which can be done either directly from Trikuta bhawan in jammu or through travel agents in katra who will ferry the tourist to designated bus in jammu

Hi harnish,

A good and easy alternative to reaching the Bhavan is to take the battery operated Autorickshaw from Adhkuwari. However to board it one has to cover the distance of 6 kilometres upto the midpoint of the Yatra, by other means. These non polluting electric vehicles charge Rs 100 per head. It plies on the new route. These vehicles are meant for too young, physically challenged or old who can’t take any other mode of transport. Average time taken to reach Bhawan is 15 minutes.

From DHARMSALA there are lot of bus services to jammu and from jammu you can get lot of buses to katra and if you want to come kashmir then you to book a car in katra for srinagar and in srinagar he will get 3 days of time in that he will see GULMARG , PAHALGAM . MUGHAL GARDENS . THEN IN SAME CAR YOU WILL COME BACK TO JAMMU AIRPORT .

Dear Sanjay,

The registration for the Yatra is done absolutely free of cost and fully computerized. At Katra the YRC or Yatra Registration counter is located at the Niharika (main) Bus Stand and you need to queue up at this place to get the parchis. Yatris carrying the parchi(slip ) are required to cross the first Check Post at Banganga some 1.5 kilometers from the YRC within a time span of 6 hours from the time of issuing of the slip. Failing to maintain the time schedule the slip is confiscated at the Check Post. One has to again take a fresh slip altogether.

Timings of YRC:Yatra registration counter timings is as follows
6 AM to 10 PM

And if you want to go by foot it takes 5 to 6 hrs one way.The Helicopter operates DAILY, 8 am to 6 pm between Katra and Sanjichhat every 15 minutes. You have to take a Train from Nashik to Jammu and from Jammu to Katra you can Book the car for Katra , Shimla , Manali and for Amritsar . Then from Amritsar you take a Train to Delhi . Hi! yes dear it will be chilly here on specified dates, but dnt worry if u r carrying heavy woolens it will work for you, and ofcourse there are some best hotels in katra which can provide you 4 star comforts. The climate on road will be chilly all over the way but remember to carry some heavy jackets, and don't forget to apply cold cream to avoid skin rashes, and if you think you are not used to such climate then consult some doctor before visiting jammu and carry some medicine with you as precautionary measure, and moreover there is no rush during this off season. Hi! The climate in December is Cold But if you will carry woolen Clothes with you that is fine . And About the hotel . You will get Hotels there in winter time they are giving heating system in the room and hot water 24hrs . Jammu to katra:-

Katra to Sanjichaat by helicopter and return

Jammu to Amritsar by bus

However, for pilgrims traveling through helicopter, special preference is given for darshan...so it should not take more than 2 hours if you travel by a chopper.

Hi Sibu, Now as the land issue is resolved so there is no problem at all in jammu now,so you can go by any means if you are coming by train to jammu then after coming out of railway station you can get buses of all types directly to katra which will take maximum 2 to 3 hrs drive or if u are large number of people you can book taxi, sumo from outside station to katra & enjoy your journey as its a beautiful highway ride, and then from katra u can proceed for Maa Vaishnodevi. After visiting Vaishno Devi shrine take any conveyance either a bus or a cab from Katra to Jammu.There are buses plying from Jammu into Himachal Pradesh. Board a bus for Dharamshala/Kangra.Two days at Dharamshala and one at Kangra are enough thereafter,take a bus for Manali.Three to four days are enough to see Manali and surroundigs. There are direct buses from Manali to Shimla.After staying in Shimla you may take either a train or bus for your further destination.

Summers (March to July) are cool and pleasant and winters (August to February) are characterized by sub-zero level temperature and are snow bound. Festive period of the Navarathras are during March-April and September-October. The fare for helicopter to and fro will be 2450/-per person. Hi! Yes there are a lot of buses which run from Katra to Srinagar, the total journey time is around 9 hours.The buses start in the mornings to reach Srinagar in the evening. All interstate bus services operate to and from the Jammu General Bus Stand. Super deluxe, deluxe/ video coaches and A-class buses to Srinagar operate from the railway station. B-class buses to Srinagar leave from the General Bus Stand. From Jammu, Srinagar is 290KMs. There are many buses available from Jammu bus stand to Katra. Thanks!

U Can visit Shiv khodi in Reasi which is 50 kms from katra n then u can visit Jajjar kotli(a picnic spot) 18kms from Katra.

Thanks for your query,

a few private buses operate from katra to shiv-khori. They charge around Rs.150-160 and take nearly 9 to 10 hrs to reach shiv-khori
katra to jammu journey takes 2hrs by bus and the fare is Rs35 to 40

Hi!There are several places to see and visit near Vaishno Devi too. The Deva Mai temple is about three miles short of Katra town. Many devotees treat it as a very holy site and go there to perform paeans. The Holy Cave of Shiv Khori is the abode of Lord Shiva, situated at a distance of 70 km from Katra. The cave is a real wonder to be seen and measures nearly a kilometer in length with a four-feet-high naturally formed Shiv-lingam at the heart of the sanctum sanctorum.A few miles away from Katra is Pindian at the foot of the Trikuta range. This spot is also dedicated to Vaishno Devi.The temple of Baba Dhansar is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located at a distance of about 15 km from Katra on way to Salal Dam.The legendary hero Baba Jitto's temple is situated at village Aghar Jitto, which is just 5 km from Katra town, on the Katra-Reasi Road.

Hi Rinkoo!You may not get the booking at any place managed by the Shrine Board,starting from Jammu to Katra due to huge rush of pilgrims.If you have elderly people or children in the group,please do not try to come back on the same day.I suggest starting in the afternoon and reach Ardhkuari and preferably take rest there if you can find accommodation(you will be very lucky !).Second important point I suggest is that carry minimum load packed in backpacks or stroller type light luggage bags.Drink sufficient water.AVOID taking stairs while going UP even if you are fit and young as it does not save any big time.We found no need for wollens at this time.the temperature at night does not dip below 20 degrees-hardly justifying heavy woolens.Due to the summer vacations the rush is unmanagable and situation is totally chaotic in Katra.The darshan is for just a second or two-for all the efforts that the pilgrims are taking.Do not carry anything on your person except money and handkerchief for final darshan.The secuity people do not allow any kind of belts,mobile phones,camera,handycam and even nail polish or bindi on females ! Please deposit your belongings including the walking stick at the free locker service.Staying at Bhawan after darshan should be avoided due to the rush and concurrent problems. Wishing you a very safe darshan !

Government buses avail from Katra to Pathankot(1-2 buses in every hour, take 5-6 hour) And you can even get Government buses from Pathankot to Manali (take 10-12 hour). Thanks kiomoi.com

If you are not able to get a direct bus from Katra to Manali. Then, first u go Pathankot form katra (1-2 buses in every hour, take 5-6 hour), then change the bus from pathankot to manali (take 10-12 hour) remember buses not running at night from Pathankot to Manali. Thanks kiomoi.com
