Hi dipanjana,

Kaziranga is 142kms from Guwahati, it will take 3hrs to reach by road. The month which you have chosen is the best time to visit there since the climate during these months is quite pleasant in Kaziranga, Guwahati & Shillong. There is not much to see near the national park except for the Kakochang water falls and Panbari Reserve Forest Kakochang waterfalls:- Kakochang Waterfalls is situated about 13 kilometers away from Bokakhat in Jorhat District of Assam. It is located in between the Kaziranga National Park and the Bokakhat. It is a small picnic spot, which is known for striking views of the nature, along with the lush forests and breath-taking hills. One can see the ruins of the ancient Numaligarh from the park. The ruins are of great archaeological importance.

Panbari Reserve Forest:- The Panbari Reserve Forest is located just a few kilometers away from the east side of Kohora. A guard has to be hired from Kohara Base to enter into the Panbari. The whole trip of the forest can take upto 2 hours. There are plenty of birds here especially the woodland varieties.

Jorhat : 97 kms away from Kaziranga, the small town of Jorhat has some interesting excursions point. You could stay here for a night at the colonial heritage tea bungalow. If you want to experience more, you can catch the Nimati Ghat Ferry, about 13 kms from Jorhat Town. The ferry starts around 9 am and makes a two day trip to Majuli, the world's biggest inhabited river island.

Enjoy your trip !!!

Dear Jaya,

Kaziranga is a vast park covering appoximately 430 sq kms. It has three major ranges - eastern (Agaratoli), central (Kohora) and western (Bagori), each unique on its own way. Though jeep safaris are available in all the three ranges, elephant safari is only possible in the central and western range of the park. Hence you may either arrange accommodation near the central (Kohora) or western range (Bagori) of the park. All available accommodations are outside the park as nothing is allowed inside the park. Good, clean and comfortable accommodations are available near these two ranges to visit the park.
Good Day.

Dear Sir,

For the couple of days visit to Kaziranga, the safaris inside the park by jeep and elephant will be the highlight of the visit. Kaziranga has three wildlife ranges - eastern, central and western. Safaris to these ranges itself is possible over two days. Other than the above, visits to neighbouring tea plantation & tribal villages and birdwatching trek in Panbari range of the National Park and boating in the eastern range can also be interesting, if time permits.

Good Day.

Dear Sir,

Thanks for your query,

The cheapest way to reach Kaziranga from Guwahati will be by bus. A number of buses are available throughout the day from Guwahati to Kaziranga and the fare per person will be approximately Rs.300/-. The main attraction of Kaziranga National Park is ofcourse the Rhinoceros. Sighting can be done by visiting the park either by elephant or jeep safari. Kaziranga is the only park that has the "Big Five" - the elephant, the tiger, the rhinoceros, the wild buffalo and the deer.

Dear Kittu,

Thanks for your query,

Other than the normal elephant and jeep safaris available at Kaziranga National Park, one should not miss visiting DURGAPUR, a small village in the periphery of the park and enjoy some warm-hearted Assamese hospitality and an insight into the unique life, culture and craft of the region. The delicate art forms of Satriya and Bihu folk dance and music are the highlight of the experience.Visitors to Durgapur can look forward to a delectable spread of traditional Assamese food, served by the community at the village.

Trekking in the nearby tea and rubber plantation and purchasing of garden fresh strong Assam Tea from the tea outlet are some other activities which one must plan in their next trip to Kaziranga National Park.

Have a nice day.

 Dear Sir,

Thanks for your query. My inputs with regard the querry is given below :

1. The best time to visit Kaziranga is from Nov to April. This is the period when the National Park is also officially open for visitors and they can enjoy the elephant and jeep safaris inside the park. The sighting of rhino is guranteed alongwith many other animals and rich birdlife. The weather in Nov will be dry and the temperature ranging between 20 and 28 degrees between night and day.

2. Light woolens will be required for the evenings and early mornings. For the safaris wear clothes that cover both the leg and arms fully. It is always better to travel light during the jungle safaris. Carry basic medicines especially if one is allergic to dust. One should carry insect and mosquito repellant creams, band aids, water bottles, first aid kit, small torch and personal hygiene products, Carry a good camera with extra film rolls as many opportunities will come to get good pictures.

3. Assamese is the local language. However, hindi is spoken and understood by majority. English is also spoken and understood especially in the hotel / resort, guide and the local authorities.

4. Other than the jungle safaris in Kaziranga National Park, one can visit an ethnic village called DURGAPUR situated in the National Park to have an interface with the local people and learn about their art, culture and cuisine. Visits to Tea and rubber plantations can be organised alongwith short boat cruises in the National Park. A 03 nights/04 days programme is ideal to cover the National Park in the best possible way with all activities.

Regards.

Dear Saranjeet,

Thanks for your query,

Kaziranga is officially closed for visitors from 01 May upto 31 Oct every year. Hence any activities inside the park is not allowed. However, one can enjoy a joy ride in an elephant on the periphery of the park. During this period one can visit the tea estate to see manufacturing of tea as this is the high season for tea making. Others places that can be visited from Kaziranga are Sibasagar (approx 160kms) to see ruins of the Ahom Dynasty that ruled Assam for 600 years. Tezpur (100kms) can also be visited from Kaziranga.

Good Day.
