Overview

Kumarakom, a small tourist village located 16 km west of Kottayam district of Kerala. Though technically it is an island on Vembanad Lake sited right in the thick tangle of lush tropical waterways.

The beauty of this places cant be described in words. The Vembanad Lake is a long meaningful sentence that describes its own beauty, punctuated by the precise and elegant commas of palm trees, now mysteriously dark, simultaneously saintly and romantic.

The Kumarakom bird sanctuary, protected by a thick cluster of mangroves is home to more than 180 species of birds, which is a huge attraction. The little village by the vast lake teems with water and palms, fish and birds, boats and rice, sunset and breeze. It is easy to see why National Geographic Traveler would call Kumarakom "One of The Ten Paradises On Earth".

Kumarakom is the perfect destination to experience the famous backwaters of Kerala, enjoying picture perfect scenery that comprises of winding lagoons, coconut trees, and continual rows of paddy fields. The lake and its surrounding areas can be best explored on a houseboat.

Kumarakom is a perfect place far away from the hustle and bustle of metros, soaked in the munificence of nature.

Hi vasudev,

During the day, the temperature allows people to laze around with a favorite book or bask in the glory of the sun, whilst Nature plays as a pretty host. During this time, Kumarakom offers just the right respite from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Enjoy Your Trip.
